Sihanoukville

Gateway to cambodias islands Sihanoukville is a town with something for everyone. Nightlife outside town, dozens of beaches ranging in budget, and pristine islands a couple hours offshore for those looking for that white sand between your toes.

Picture

Kampot

While kampot town may hold little to see and do besides drink by the river its main attraction Bokor Hill makes a stay here a must. Set high atop Bokow mountain lies the ruins of an old French resort town with crumbling buildings all offering spectacular views of the surrounds.

Kep

Crab... Crab... and some more crab. Kep is known far and wide as the cheapest place to get some of the freshest crab in the region. For just a few dollars a whole kilo of crabs is yours plucked straight out of the water while you wait. Simply amazing.

Picture

Koh Kong

In reality nothing more than an overpriced border town but for those who stay for a night or two the town can rub off some of its charm. The people here are very friendly for those willing to pound back a few beers and get social.

Kompong Cham

What? Huh? Wait are you serious thats F***ing awesome! are just a few of the things that went through my head here. Riverside parks with beautiful views are covered with strange fruit sculptures, roaming monkeys and numerous oddities. Amazing place popular with locals and tourist alike.

Banteay Chhmar Temples

Amazing ruins that rival the size of angkor itself. Although plagued by robbers many of the carved faces and artistic wall carvings still remain. I was privledged to see it while I  can.

Picture

Anlong Veng

The resting place and last holdout of now dead dictator Pol Pot and others. Why the man responsible for millions of death has offerings laid at his small grave will leaving you scratching your head its nothing compared to one of his top generals. The fact that he is buried on a monasteries grounds with offerings at the site will blow your mind.

Picture

Koh Ker Temples

An amazing set of temple ruins in a remote part of cambodia different from all the rest.

Picture

Battambang

A smaller city with all the highlights of a larger home. The bamboo railway, bats, temples and just plain relaxing. Battambang was one of the best places I visited in cambodia and anyone with a chance to go should not miss it.

Picture

Siem Reqap

Home to Angkor Wat and surrounding temples Siem Reap is the highlight of many trips to Cambodia. The countryside however is little visited and gives a great sense of rural life here.

Picture

Preah Vihear

Sitting atop a mountain along the Thai/Cambodian border is this ancient temple with breath taking views of both countries. The area is disputed making time here surreal as troops parade along the border and join you in conversation AK-47s and all.

- The Killing Fields / S-21 -

The recent history of Cambodia is as tragic as the ancient Khmer Empire was amazing. The pain and genecide the people suffered under the brutal Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot is horrifying. Seeing hand the pictures and faces of the victims along with there suffering is at times unbearable, but the only way to understand real Cambodia...

Picture

- Phnom Penh -

The amazing capital of Cambodia, with crazy traffic and easy access to just about anything. The royal palace stuns is rivals the equally great palace in Bangkok. The capital, but not the heart of Cambodia. That honor goes to Siem Reap, mostly because of tourism...

- Kratie -

Busy riverside town with an amazingly busy market in the center. Known for its dolphin spotting trips from nearby krampie, it remains a well traveled place and well recommended for the dolphins. You really do see them!
