- Don Khon -
The islands, one of the main three being Don Khon, are Laos holy grail for relaxation. A prime spot for dolphin spotting, chilling out on a hammock and watching life float by down the river. A sure stop for everyone visiting Laos. I found a true home here, albeit hard to enjoy being sick...
- Champasak -
Home to Wat Phu and the beautiful view that surrounds it, the place has every thing a small town should. Very very quiet place with a great river, Champasak makes for a perfect place to kick back in the heart or rural Laos.... and then there is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Wat Phu of coarse....
- Pakse -
Small but bustling transport town acting as the main stop to change buses heading further south. Not much to see here, but an amazing market and some real lao life can make it a great place to spend the night.
- The Gibbon Experience -
Simply the best thing you can do in SE Asia. The crown jewel of my trip. Treehouse living, flying through the rainforest, monkeys, and doing something good or nature in the process... What more could you ask for?
- Luang Prabang -
Called " The most Lao city in Laos ", Luang Prabang lives up to its potential delivering so much more that expected. Truly French style, dozens of temples, friendly monks, and an atmosphere that is remarkable by any standard....
- The Slowboat Journey -
Down the mekong river for 2 days gives alot of sore butts and some amazing views. Take the good with bad, this trip gets both raving fans, and some seriously regretful patrons. For me, a mix of both.
- Huay Xai -
How to some amazing times, although there is really nothing to do here at all. It is home to amazing sunsets, and the start of the infamous slowboat ride to luang prabang....
- Nong Kiaow -
Second only to my time at The Gibbon Experience, this is easily my favorite place in Laos. Quiet peaceful scenery, riverside bungalows, easy caves, and so close to all the Lao people. A true home for travelers of the beaten track.
- Luang Nam Tha -
Trekking capital of Laos, and home to a simply stunning hilltop temple.
- Phonsavon -
Home to the plain of jars, this unique lao city holds more than its share of sights aside from them. The massive stone jars that are over 2500 years old, multiple Hmong villages willing to have you for a visit, and an amazing old capital.
- Vang Vieng -
Laos only real tourist playground, its home to some of the best scenery in laos, river tubing along side limstone mountains passing riverside bars, and of coarse endless episodes of the TV friends on every TV in town.
- Vientiane -
This capital city is probably the worlds smallest. No above ground roads, no highways, its more a large town than a city. Truly lovely mix of new and old... Plus there's a latte cafe on every corner!
